My family and myself

Greetings to Peter and Alice and anyone else (unlikely) who might remember me! It seems hard to believe it has been over 20 years since I collaborated with Peter and benefitted from use of the ASU facilities.

I was at ASU Jan-August of 1981, again the following summer, and also two or three times in December/January, learning and applying the techniques of HRTEM.

I retired as professor of chemistry from the University of Iowa in December, 1996. Since then Jean and I have been spending winters in Houston, TX, where our daughter and four grandchildren live. We spend summers at our lake home in northern Minnesota, and live in the small town of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Jean's old home town, where she inherited some farmland, in spring and fall. Jean suffered a stroke in October, 2005, which curtailed her driving. However, with some limitations we continue our multi-location lifestyle. My scientific endeavors since retiring have included publishing two revisions of a chemistry study guide and annual participation as a consultant on the science portion of the ACT college entrance assessment.
