Heiner Friedrich joined the 7*M group in May of 2002 after finishing his master thesis in Physics at the Triebenberg Laboratory for High Resolution Electron Microscopy and Holography in Dresden, Germany. Focus of his work was the implementation and development of Electron Tomography at ASU to study the 3D morphology of inorganic structures. One of Heiners main interests was (and is) the quantitative analysis of electron tomograms by image segmentation. He left the group in August of 2005 to obtain his PhD in the Inorganic Chemistry and Catalysis Group at Utrecht University, The Netherlands. There he is working on the 3D structural characterization of catalysts.
