My family and myself
Since leaving ASU many years ago, I now have a wonderful family consisting of wife Stephanie and 5 children: Hilary 18, Nathan 16, Ian 12, Hannah 10, and Simon 6. We live about an hour outside of Philadelphia, PA where I work for Rohm and Haas Co. We are a specialty polymer company active in a number of markets, but primarily paints and electronic materials. I work in the Paint and Coatings division as Group Leader in Technical Service for Rheology Modifiers and Dispersants. In plain language, we sell thickeners for latex paint. I’ve been here for nearly 20 years, moving into the Technical Service role after almost 15 years in the Analytical Department.
This past summer we took a long-anticipated trip to my birthland, Switzerland, and had a great time. When we’re not in Switzerland, i.e. most of the time, we keep busy home-schooling our children and taking part in various activities. In the warmer weather, Stephanie and the older kids do Summer Biathlon, which is a combination of running and rifle marksmanship. They also run track, where Stephanie is one of the distance coaches. In the winter, we cross-country ski when the snow permits, which is not often enough in this part of Pennsylvania. This past winter, we also tried our hand at the original, i.e. winter, version of biathlon. Everyone is also working on developing their fish imitations by participating in swimming both winter and summer. In case you’re wondering what dad does, he drives a lot, tries to find time to ride his bicycle, and hopes for snow so he can ski.
